Welcome to SteadLog

Howdy! What a journey it’s been. It started way back on February 15, 2022. I was fed up with keeping home details in a handful of different places—maintenance dates, repair receipts, grocery notes, finances, and the little pieces of a place’s story. So came … Our Home? Sounds warm and inviting, right? Well, a bunch of other folks had already thought so too. How about Home Maker? Meh.

After a long trip through branding purgatory, here we have SteadLog—a “homestead logbook,” if you will. I’m a country boy at heart; forgive a fella. It’s … interesting, but so is “Google!”

Anywho, I’m an organization and planning freak, but I figured there must be others in the same boat: people who want one modern place to keep a maintenance record, remember what was fixed, and know what needs attention next. I wanted to make that useful without turning it into another giant system to maintain.

Despite the taxes of shyness, perfectionism, a full-time job working on the Azure cloud at Microsoft, and actually running a household with a smart, beautiful, and stubborn-as-all-hell wife and two daughters—who have inherited both of our intensities and flavors of stubbornness, mind you—SteadLog is here to help preserve your roots and know what’s next.

My vision is not just to serve obsessive organizers. I want to make it easier for people who can’t—or just plain don’t want to—spend much time documenting things to do their future selves a favor. Log the water-heater replacement, the car service, the appliance manual, or the provider who knows your home. Find it later. Move on with your day.
